ProTech Joins a Project Strengthening Science–Business Collaboration

The Institute of Applied Research for Advanced Technologies (ProTech) is participating in the project „Atžalinių įmonių MTEP komercinimo projektinės veiklos“, implemented by the Research Council of Lithuania (RCL). The initiative is designed to increase the competitiveness of research and experimental development (R&D) results and to support innovative solutions in reaching the market.

The project focuses on strengthening cooperation between science and business and on improving the practical application of research results, with the aim of developing high value-added products and reinforcing Lithuania’s innovation ecosystem.

Project Objectives and Key Challenges

The main objective of the project is to enable newly established spin-off companies to consistently progress through the entire innovation pathway—from a scientific idea or prototype to a final, market-ready solution.

The initiative addresses key challenges related to:

  • limited competitiveness of R&D results,
  • the complexity of research commercialisation processes,
  • the transfer of innovation from science to business,
  • the need to develop competitive, high value-added products.

Project Activities and Scope

The project plans to support 38 spin-off company R&D commercialisation projects, involving a total of 46 partners, including spin-off companies as well as research and higher education institutions.

The total project budget amounts to EUR 5 million.

Funded experimental development activities cover the period from prototype demonstration (R&D stage 7) to final product validation (R&D stage 9), as well as activities related to preparation for product certification.

ProTech’s Role in the Project

As a project participant, ProTech contributes to the achievement of the initiative’s overall objectives by applying its expertise in applied research, the development of technological solutions, and their practical implementation.

Participation in the project enables the Institute to actively engage in the commercialisation of R&D results, collaborate with other innovation ecosystem stakeholders, and contribute to solutions that respond to real market needs.

Looking Ahead

ProTech values the opportunity to participate in this project and to contribute to its implementation. We look forward to the upcoming project activities and to sharing progress and results, thereby supporting the development of a sustainable and competitive innovation ecosystem in Lithuania.
