From May 20–21, 2025, the Applied Research Institute for Prospective Technologies (Protech) took part in the 5th General Assembly of the IBC4EU project, hosted by project partner FuturaSun in the historic and picturesque town of Cittadella, Italy.
This General Assembly marks an important milestone as the IBC4EU project enters its final phase, accelerating efforts to bring innovative interdigitated back-contact (IBC) solar technologies to manufacturing scaling. Therefore, the meeting brought together leading research institutes, technology developers, and industrial players to align on progress and define next steps across the full PV value chain.
As a dedicated research partner in IBC4EU, Protech is actively contributing to Europe’s technological leadership in high-efficiency photovoltaic (PV) solutions. During the two-day event, our team participated in technical workshops. We shared insights and updates on our contributions to process optimization, technology transfer, and industry-readiness of IBC-based technologies.
Additionally, a key highlight of the visit was a guided tour of FuturaSun’s facilities, where the pilot IBC stringer was showcased—an important step toward the scalable production of next-generation solar modules.
We thank FuturaSun for their warm hospitality and exceptional organization of this event. The inspiring location and spirit of open collaboration contributed greatly to a successful and impactful meeting.
While the IBC4EU project advances towards last stretches, Protech remains committed to driving innovation, accelerating clean energy technologies, and strengthening Lithuania’s position in the European solar industry.
Stay tuned— IBC4EU project team is growing, and new developments are just around the corner.
