Protech at EU–South MED Matchmaking: Building Green Partnerships

The Applied Research Institute for Prospective Technologies (Protech) coordinated Lithuanian Photovoltaics Industrial Technology Cluster (FETEK) participated in the EU–South MED Matchmaking Event in Cairo, Egypt. Our aim is to strengthen the role in driving cross-border cooperation in solar innovation, green infrastructure, and climate-smart technologies.

Held under the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), the event gathered over 100 organizations from Europe, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco.Therefore,  offering a vibrant environment for knowledge exchange, partnership building, and long-term project development in the renewable energy and innovation ecosystem sectors.

Representing FETEK on-site, Skirmantė Baležentienė connected with policymakers, cluster leaders, and innovators to explore collaborative pathways in solar PV, architecture, and future-focused infrastructure.

Advancing Solar Innovation Through Strategic Partnerships

As the coordinator of several cross-sector technology initiatives, Protech’s presence in Cairo was focused on fostering international R&D alliances, with a special focus on photovoltaic integration, smart infrastructure, and applied sustainability solutions.

Our representative, Skirmantė Baležentienė, engaged with clusters, research organizations, and industry players to explore new pathways for collaboration in:

  • Solar and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV);

  • Architecture and engineering innovation;

  • Circular and climate-resilient technologies;

  • EU-funded research and demonstration projects;

By participating in this high-impact matchmaking event, Protech strengthens its commitment to building resilient, scalable innovation pipelines with global reach.

Why the South MED Region Matters

The Mediterranean region is rapidly emerging as a test-bed for climate innovation. With Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia investing in large-scale solar infrastructure and clean technology hubs, the demand for applied research and cross-border technical know-how has never been greater.

Protech sees this momentum as an opportunity to apply its expertise in applied photovoltaics, green tech systems, and technology foresight to create solutions with measurable environmental and economic impact.

Building Bridges Between Innovation and Application

We believe that knowledge must serve action. That’s why we participate in platforms like EU–South MED — to bring applied research closer to market adoption and empower industry partners across borders to co-create the energy systems of tomorrow.

Whether you’re a cluster, municipality, developer, or research partner, we’re always open to building purposeful alliances that lead to innovation-driven results.

Let’s Collaborate

Missed us in Cairo? We’re just getting started. Protech actively participates in European innovation networks and regularly contributes to consortia focused on renewables, sustainable construction, and intelligent energy systems.
