We are proud to share that on April 29th, Protech’s coordinated, the Photovoltaic Industrial Technology Cluster – FETEK, had the privilege of participating in a high-level event hosted by the Council of the European Union under the Polish-Danish-Cypriot Trio Presidency, in Brussels.
FETEK was represented by Cluster Manager and Team Lead Skirmantė Baležentienė, who alongisde, LITEK, AgriFood Lithuania, showcased Lithuania’s success in the Photovoltaics, Laser Technologies, and Agri-Tech sectors. The event convened EU policymakers and highlighted Lithuania’s industrial ecosystems—strengthened through cluster process — as a model for advancing Europe’s industrial competitiveness via innovation-driven collaboration.
💡As a leading research institute in PV technologies in Lithuania, Protech presented its role in advancing the lab-to-fab process excellence transition, demonstrating how applied R&D can support the scale-up of next-generation PV solutions.
As Lithuania’s leading cluster for photovoltaic innovation, FETEK highlighted how its member companies—particularly Protech— plays an essential role in transforming advanced PV research into scalable, industrial solutions.
We shared our experience and national innovation success stories, emphasizing the critical importance of our learned lessons and seamless technology transfer from research to manufacturing, and the pressing need for agile, targeted funding mechanisms tailored to mid-sized innovation ecosystems. We underscored the necessity of building a flexible, innovation-oriented, and technology-driven industry to ensure the long-term stability and sustainability of EU manufacturing.
Our contribution also spotlighted Lithuania’s achievements in the PV sector and demonstrated how clusters unite regions, industries, and stakeholders to foster value chain integration. This collaborative approach accelerates the transition from laboratory to market, supports the rapid scale-up of innovation, and strengthens supply chains across Europe.
Our core message was clear
In today’s rapidly evolving industrial landscape, fostering ecosystems that support innovation and scalability is essential. The flexibility and agility of clusters are vital to unlocking Europe’s competitiveness and enabling the adoption of advanced, sustainable technologies.
Looking Ahead
FETEK and Protech remains committed to advancing collaborative innovation. We look forward to co-creating new instruments with fellow clusters, European institutions, and industry partners. By sharing knowledge and building resilient, high-performing ecosystems, we aim to help shape a future where Europe leads in sustainable, technology-driven manufacturing.
